Deferral & Check Deception
Infraction Deferral Program
The Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor's Office has established an Infraction Deferral Program. It is designed for law abiding citizens who have recently received a traffic ticket or violation. The program allows the Prosecuting Attorney to dismiss traffic tickets as long as drivers complete the terms of the deferral agreement.
On your scheduled court date, or before, you will complete the appropriate paperwork for our review of your driving record. If accepted into the program you will pay the infraction deferral fee and must maintain a clean driving record for 12 months in order for us to dismiss the charges.
Benefits to You
- No points against your driving record
- Dismissal of ticket
- Insurance rates may not increase
To find out if you are eligible, come to court on your scheduled court date, or contact the Infraction Deferral Program Coordinator, Amy Beckett at 812-532-3288
Bad Check Collection Program
The Prosecutor can assist businesses in collecting a bad check received from a customer. The business must have the check writer's identifying information, i.e. last known address, date of birth and Driver's License Number. If you have received a bad check, please contact the Prosecutor's Office at 812-537-8884.
